Jordan Cheng, '00. For a man who wasn't sure what he wanted to do when he grew up, Jordan Cheng, '00 loves where he has ended up. As Director of the Legal Compliance Department for Franklin Capital Corporation in Salt Lake City, Utah, Cheng's daily tasks include managing the firm’s litigation and executive complaints program along with the federal and state law compliance program. J. Robert Droege, '49. A delayed air force stint, a social fraternity, and a happenstance meeting with a hotel mogul led J. Robert Droege, '49 to a successful career. Bob used his law degree to put his stamp on the business community and at the same time was able to give back and make a difference. Stephen Ewald, '94. Studies show that birth order can impact the personality of children. Some might say, though, being the youngest of six prepared '94 College of Law graduate Stephen Ewald for being a highly successful businessman. He currently works as Chief Operating Officer for the Principal Capital Group, a proprietary investing group within Bank of America Securities, where he oversees enterprise business planning, expense control, business strategy and architecture, compliance, legal and infrastructure design encompassing trading support. Clayton Kuhnell, '01. He just couldn't stay away. Kuhnell stepped back into the classroom to play a different role: professor. Mark Levey, '72. When 1972 UC Law graduate Marc Levey isn't litigating a complex international tax issue, you can find him on the ski slopes with his wife and five children near their vacation home in Vermont. As a partner at Baker & McKenzie in New York, Levey specializes in transfer pricing, tax controversy and litigation, supply chain tax planning, tax advice for mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring, and general tax planning. His fluency in both English and French allow him interact with clients on an international level. (Read More)
Nancy Oliver, '90. Nancy Oliver, '90 stepped into the temporary role of Interim Associate Dean after former Associate Dean Barbara G. Watts retired from the Collegse of Law in June of 2008. "I'm very excited about serving the College of Law in this new position," said Oliver. As one of the law school's Legal Research and Writing professors, she has many years of experience working with first-year law students. "I love teaching," said Dean Oliver. "But this new role enables me to expand my own skill set and also work more closely with upper-level students." (Read more)
Kate Pongonis, '97. It was a lucky coincidence that Kate Pongonis '97 was chosen to be featured in this issue of Updates@UC Law. Contacting her would soon have been a bit more challenging, seeing as she's off to Ethiopia for the next two years.
