From 1973 through 1977, Professor Rands practiced law at Phelps, Dunbar, Marks, Claverie & Sims and Hurley, McNulty & Stakelum in Louisiana. He then became a law lecturer at the University of Arkansas School of Law for one year before coming to the UC College of Law in 1978. Professor Rands has served as President, Treasurer and currently as UC's representative to the League of Ohio Law Schools, as well as serving on numerous College of Law committees.
He has taught as an adjunct professor at Capital University School of Law and has made presentations for the College of Law Corporate Law Center, the Cincinnati Bar Association, the UC Law Alumni Association, and an American Law Institute/American Bar Association program. Professor Rands has also coached youth soccer and basketball for several years.
